The Joy of Wind Gone Past

The vast plain stretches far away

Desolate as midnight

But soon the grass begins to sway

And dances in the sunlight.

A breath of wind has swept the plain

Causing wildflowers

To twirl and spin and then to say,

"O wind, your joy's now ours."

It blows so sweetly, ever strong

Setting all a-dancing

And all it touches think upon

What makes this breeze entrancing.

Perhaps the way it rolls so free

Over lifeless places

And brings its happy countenance

To poor, unhappy faces.

And though the wind begins to fade

And life no more it sees

A more beautiful world has been made

Because of that blessed breeze.
